Government
of Haryana intends to set up a Knowledge City to
be known as Rajiv Gandhi Education City
onan area of 1500 acres approximately in
Sonipat-Kundli Multi Functional Urban Complex
along National Highway No. 1 The site almost abuts
the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Western
Expressway. The Education City will have
top class infrastructure and support services, so
as to invite the top class Educational Institutes
of the world to open their campuses here and to
introduce cutting edge/frontier technologies devoted
to research in the emerging areas of learning. This
is an endeavor to explore and invite the best of
talent in the post globalization era, so that the
Education City becomes the hub of learning which
will be comparable to the best in the world. The
objective of setting up the Education City is to
intercept the brainy youth of the country and mould
them in the framework of trade, commerce, I.T.,
science, engineering, technology, medicine, bio-technology
etc., so as to address the needs of India's growing
economy on the one hand, and to generate employment
opportunities on the other hand.

ranks first among all states, as per CMIE Capex database, with investment under implementation of Rs.78,500 per capita (Rs. 1,86,045 Crores on June,2007).
